Straight Shooter Will Not Damage Your Firearm

It’s almost impossible to damage a centerfire gun, while dry-firing. 

However, some rim-fire pistols could be damaged over time if you don't use a snap cap or a laser cartridge. 

Straight Shooter Lasers are perfectly safe for all types of firearms. They have rubber o-rings and a rubber pad to protect the firing pin.

Step 1:  Insert the Laser Cartridge Into Your Own Gun

Select the right caliber laser and insert it into the chamber of your own gun. 

Sturdy rubber O-rings protect your weapon and keep it in the barrel when you reset the slide for the next shot.

Standard Mode - Paper Targets

  • Print paper targets (available here) & hang on the wall.  
  • Place your phone on tripod and point camera at the target. 
  • Follow instructions in straight shooter app and start shooting!

Arcade Mode 

  • Set up a projector on a blank wall.  

    Don't have a projector?  Add after checkout for as little as $99.

    If you already have a projector that produces around 8,000 lumens or more, it should work fine.  Learn more.
  • ​Connect your phone to the projector using a cable (wireless projection will not work properly because there will be too much of time lag). 

    Your phone will project the moving targets through the projector. 
  • ​Place your phone on tripod and point camera at the projected targets. The camera on your phone will detect where your laser shots hit. 
  • ​Follow the simple instructions in straight shooter app and start shooting!

**Popular Question:  Can I use this with a TV?  The answer is no.  Unfortunately, the TV will absorb the laser light so that the phone cannot detect it.  However, a blank wall will not absorb the light - so it works!

Shooting guns is fun, but shooting paper targets is boring. It's hard to tell when you hit them because they don't move. We ship our orders by USPS.  Orders are typically shipped out within 2 business days.  You will receive a shipping notification, complete with a tracking number,  via email within 24 hours of product being shipped. 

FAQ's

General Questions: 

Q: Will it work with my phone? 
A: Standard mode (shooting the stationary paper targets) should work with any smartphone purchased in the last 5 years.  However Arcade mode (moving targets on a projector screen) requires some more features.  Click here to take a quiz to see if it's compatible with your phone:  Compatibility Quiz

Q: Will it work with a Television (TV)?
A: Unfortunately, it won't. The reason is that the TV absorbs the laser light when it hits the screen.  TV's are good at projecting light, but not very good at receiving it.  If the phone can't see the laser, then it can't detect the shots.  That's why it works on our paper targets and on a projected image onto the wall. 

Q: Will my existing projector work? 
A: We recommend you get a projector with at least 3,000 lumens. However, we recommend even more. The more lumens you get, the brighter the room can be when you practice. At 3,000 lumens, the room needs to be fairly dark for the camera to track the targets. At 8,000 lumens you can see your gun sights bright and clear.  

Q: My laser cartridge won’t slide into the chamber. How can I get it to go in?
A: You can use a small amount of gun oil to lubricate the O rings and then it should load in smoothly.

Q: Can I load the Yankee Thunder Straight Shooter laser cartridge from a magazine?
A: No. DO NOT load the laser cartridge from a magazine. That may result in damage to your firearm and the laser cartridge. (This will void the warranty.) 

Q: The laser seems like it's not shooting straight. 
A: Usually removing the cartridge and rotating it ⅛-¼ turn will solve the problem. Make sure it is pushed completely into the chamber.

Q: How can I remove the Yankee Thunder laser cartridge from the chamber?
A: Easy! Push the Straight Shooter laser cartridge out with the included laser cartridge removal rod. Or use a cleaning rod, the eraser-end of your favorite pencil or a handy screwdriver.

Q: Will this laser cartridge damage my firearm’s firing pin?
A: No. The cartridge has a soft rubber button on the end that absorbs the firing pin impact so the firing pin doesn’t get damaged. The Yankee Thunder Straight Shooter laser cartridge will not damage your firearm.

Q: How long will the Yankee Thunder Straight Shooter laser cartridge batteries last?
A: You should get at least 1500 - 2000 shots from 3 full (LR626) batteries. We completely understand if you lose track of your shot count!

Q: What batteries does the Yankee Thunder Straight Shooter laser cartridge use? 
A: It uses (3) LR626 batteries. For how much energy they provide, they are tiny little things! If you’d rather not replace them… give us a holler! We’ll give you a great deal on a replacement cartridge.  

Q: What size guns do you sell the laser cartridges for?
A: 9mm, 40, .45, 380

A: Shipping is currently available to customers in the USA. If you live outside of the USA and would like to purchase our products, you will need to pay the additional shipping charges (contact us directly for more info). All packages shipped will include a tracking number. For international customers, any import customs, duties or fees are the responsibility of the customer.

A: We almost always ship within 4 business days. High demand may increase order processing time up to another 72 hours.

Q: When will I get my order?
A: Once we ship… it should take 5-8 business days for your order to arrive. Shipping times are approximate, and depend on the shipping method selected.

Q: Can I return the laser cartridge?
A: If you received a cartridge that is damaged or defective, we will cheerfully replace that item at no additional cost to you. Please email us the details and pictures at trigger@yankeethunder.com to get your replacement. We may request you return the original for quality control inspections.
